On May 14, 1948, the United States became the first nation to recognize the State of Israel.  Allis Radosh and Ronald Radosh recount the events that lead to this announcement by President Harry Truman.  This event was hosted by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York City.

Allis Radosh has served as a program officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities and has taught at Sarah Lawrence College and the City University of New York. She is the co-author with Ronald Radosh of "Red Star Over Hollywood."

Ronald Radosh

Ronald Radosh is the author of numerous books, including "Commies: A Journey Through the Old Left, the New Left, and the Leftover Left." He is an adjunct senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and professor emeritus of history at the City University of New York.
